Once again, I'm happy to leave Facebook and join V-Kontakte. I'm not surprised that in Italy this social network has been black-listed and censored: here in my country the internet freedom is seen as a moral deviance by the powerful national companies and institutions who want to exert their domination in many fields of the social, cultural and economic life. Whatever does not fall under their patriarchal control generates an overreaction of fear, rejection, distrust and mind closeness. Facebook and Youtube have still many dangerous issues (concerning but not limited to the users privacy and violent content), and yet - differently from what happened to V-Kontakte - they have never been black-listed by the Italian ISP providers. Why so? This is probably due to the fact that without Facebook or Youtube, the most powerful media and telecommunications Italian companies would surely lose money and popularity. Without V-Kontakte, instead, they have nothing to lose. Nowadays the Italian virtual network is heavily conditioned by the caprices of the Italian media giants, and banning the whole Russian social network for having hosted a copyrighted Italian movie sounds so exaggerated as the pathetical complaints of those bad-tempered Italian women who often say to be victims of sexist discrimination, violence and femicide, while they actually enjoy a very spoilt and comfortable life, over-protected by their machos in pizzerias, bars and beauty centers. As a paradox, I think the safest sites for the users privacy are the censored ones, for being the places where the most powerful national institutions and companies have not been able to put their nose claiming their rights and conditioning the internet privacy and freedom.
